Art Collection
The Kaiserschild Foundation’s art collection, primariily comprising works by seventeenth-century Dutch masters, came into being at the initiative of Dr. Hans Riegel, Kaiserschild’s founder and the co-owner of the HARIBO confectionery company. Dr. Riegel expressed his love of art by avidly collecting artworks which featured prominently in his home and business surroundings.
A significant part of the collection is now on permanent loan to the Alte Galerie of the Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz. Visitors to the Joanneum can view the collection’s seventeenth-century paintings in the exhibition Between Dying and Dancing – Tales of the Early Modern Period , in which they exemplify the artistic diversity of this era.
