On 28 March 2026 at 11 am, the Kaiserschild Foundation will open the exhibition ‘Kaiserschild Art Defined’ at the Alte Galerie in Schloss Eggenberg, dedicated to the Dutch Baroque painter Pieter Claesz.

The exhibition centres on three works by the artist (1597/98–1660), who is regarded as one of the most significant figures in 17th-century still-life painting.

A particular highlight of the exhibition is its innovative digital approach: high-resolution digital scans allow visitors to interactively explore the finest details and delve deeply into Baroque visual language and symbolism.

In addition, several short films offer insights into the art form of still life, its historical context and Claesz’s own work. Following its Vienna premiere at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the travelling exhibition can now be seen at the Alte Galerie of the Joanneum in Graz, after which it will be shown at the Kunst Museum Winterthur. The exhibition in Graz runs until 31 October 2026.
