The Kaiserschild Foundation, in collaboration with pro:Holz Steiermark, has developed another loan kit for nurseries called ‘Ba(u)mbini’. An initial evaluation was carried out jointly in early February by a team from the Department of Physics Education at the University of Graz.

The Ba(u)mbini Box is designed to bring the joy of experimentation to nursery schools and will be loaned out free of charge by the Kaiserschild Foundation from September 2026. Through a combination of experiments, play and learning stations, and puppet shows, the children are able to observe, try things out and understand for themselves.

With the help of accompanying materials and background information, nursery teachers are given comprehensive support to explore the theme of ‘trees’ with the children in a playful and varied way. Together, they will explore the following questions: What does a tree need to grow? What do the annual rings reveal, and what properties does wood have? The aim is not only to impart knowledge, but also to promote language comprehension, vocabulary development and memory skills. Social skills and fine motor skills are also strengthened through working together.

The Ba(u)mbini Box – just like the KliWaWa Box on the theme of ‘Climate, Forest and Water’ – is part of the Kaiserschild Foundation’s ‘Science Workshop’ project. Find out more here.
